Control was founded in 1992 by Guy Nolch, who has an Honours degree in Science from The University of Melbourne and has been Editor and Publisher of Australasian Science and its predecessor Search since then. Guy is also co-author with Prof Struan Sutherland of Dangerous Australian Animals (Hyland House), has written for several newspapers and magazines, and is an occasional presenter on radio. In 2012 the Australian Science Communicators named Guy as its inaugural Unsung Hero of Australian Science Communication.

Control has also been producing Chemistry in Australia for the Royal Australian Chemical Institute since 2001, with responsibilities for graphic design, printing and online publishing.

Control has also provided publishing services for the Australian Institute of Physics, CSIRO Publishing, The Australian Society for Microbiology, The Australian Council for Educational Research, Blackwell Science, University of NSW Press, Macmillan Education Australia, Addison Wesley Longman, Chapman and Hall (London), Advanced Network Management and Oxford Clinical Communications.
